Yesterday we had a great time at Nathan's bowling birthday party. I was surprised that the turnout was so big; we had about 30 guests. I was a bit stressed that day, and still being pretty sleep deprived, it felt hard to keep track of all the goings on. But I think it all went pretty well and people had a good time. Nathan certainly did. He loved the bowling and his cakes and his presents.

Benjamin is doing well. He has started to give me recognizing smiles that just melt my heart. Even when I am exhausted and feeling crazy, seeing his face light up with a grin, I can't help but give him a big smile back.

A new Japanese place, SanSai, opened around the corner and I was impressed. They have your typical teriyaki and rice dishes, but I was most please with the sushi. It was cheap, generous, and most importantly, delicious. I suspect I will be popping Benjamin in the stroller and heading over there for sushi lunch pretty often while I'm still on maternity leave.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATHAN !! We've been planning his birthday party, and with much help from Gary's dad, the big boy will be having a bowling party tomorrow. We did that last year with just family and it worked pretty well. For his third birthday we're expecting over thirty people; it should be fun.

I did go ahead and cut my hair. I'd been thinking about it since before Benjamin was born and finally decided to do it. I think it looks good, but quiet different. Sorry no pics yet. I'll be donating the foot-long braid to Beautiful Lengths, the only hair donation charity affiliated with the American Cancer society and gives the wigs to women.

Hair Cut?

I am seriously considering cutting my hair about 12 inches and donating it to locks of love. It will be a big change for me, but I think my hair would still be considered "long" by most standards. Any thoughts?

NEW YEAR

Happy New Year to all. We took Benjamin to his 1 month old check up last week. He's 10 lb 8oz (60%) and 22.5 inches (85%). Our pediatrician is being cautiously optimistic about Benjamin's mild hydronephrosis, which we've known about since 4 months of pregnancy. We'll just do another ultrasound when he is bigger, be on the look out for urinary tract infections and give antibiotics if needed.

Nathan will be turning three soon and we've started to plan his birthday celebrations. It is hard since he doesn't really have his own "friends" yet. We'll probably do something at school for his classmates and another party for our buddies.

Gary will be going back to work next week and as much as I'll miss having him around the house to help, I know he'll miss being home even more. I am not looking forward to having to wrangle Nathan in the morning and get him ready for school while keeping the baby happy.
