Camping at Morro Bay went well. The hardest part was the four hour drive. We took breaks at Santa Baraba each way, but it was still hard for the kid to sit still so long. Nathan was very excited to sleep and live in the tent, almost too excited to sleep at times. We went on a nature walk along the beach, visited the natural history museum, and went on an awesome kayaking excursion. At first Nathan was whining because he wanted his own paddle, but soon we were seeing pelicans, herons, jumping fish, seals, otters, and even sharks. The only trouble is now we are exhausted and sore. I almost feel like a I need a vacation to recover.
Another weekend that flew by. This weekend Ari was up for a visit and we had a scrupmtous sushi Shabbat dinner on Friday. Saturday afternoon we dropped Nathan off with his grandparents and enjoyed the evening to ourselves. It is such a treat to have Nathan spend the night elsewhere and we get to go on a date. Gary and I saw the Time Traveler's Wife Saturday night. We'd read the book and are big fans. The movie was pretty good, but what a tear jerker. Sunday we finished assembling the new dresser for Nathan's room. Self-assembly furtniture is such a pain. Now at least his big boy room is complete and all his stuff is in there. Hopefully by the time the next once comes, he'll have forgotten about his old room. Overall the weekend was excellent. The only down side was that I developed a nasty cold and now my nose is running non-stop.
Newborn Nathan in the crib, current 2 1/2 year old Nathan in the same crib, and then in his new bed.
Tonight we finally forced the transition to his new big boy bed. The crib became "broken." We hid the mattress which gave him no choice. He cried alot, but we really want to get him used to his new room long before the new kid comes.
