Nathan scared of lions

The weekend went by quick. Nathan and I spent most of the day together; playground and library in the morning and birthday party in the afternoon. It was the first birthday party of a schoolmate we'd been invited to. They had a barbecue, a bounce house and a clown. Nathan enjoyed the food and the jumping, but was wary of the clown. We hit some major challenges when the ballon animals started but Nathan lost it when kids started getting their faces painted. He freaked out when several of the kids, painted to look like tigers/lions, began acting the part - roaring and clawing the air. Nathan was hysterical and I had to take him home. Oddly enough, once home he began imitating lions and trying to scare his parents.

Today was more mellow. I got to go on a long brisk walk in the morning (my jogging days are over for the duration of the pregnancy). Then, Gary, my mom, Nathan, and I enjoyed a delightful afternoon swimming at our friend Ray's house. He is always such a wonderful host, heating his pool to a balmy 88 degrees and serving scrumptious snacks and drinks. After only a few minutes getting aclimated, Nathan started "swimming" on his own. He basically mimics the adults who paddle around the pool on those floaty tubes. He was so relaxed and got around the entire pool unassisted (although I still hovered protectively). I was quite impressed.

Quickening

I'm pretty sure I'm starting the feel the baby move. Its been three days now and I get little flutters occasionally when I'm sitting or lying still. It could be my imagination, but I doubt it.

Father's day

Happy fathers day to all the fathers out there. We had weekend filled with lots of family. Gary got to sleep in and have a restful morning Saturday while I took Nathan to the playground. We got to see Gary's parents for dinner Saturday and we had brunch and dinner with my family today.

We're trying to prep Nathan a bit more for the impending sibling. He seems to be absorbing some of it since twice today he announced he has a baby in his tummy.

14 weeks

I no longer have a waist, unless you call it an empire waist.

Dnd Weekend

The weekend went very well. I got to play quite a bit with Nathan and his trains. His language skills are getting so good lately. One funny thing though, he interchanges Mommy and Daddy every now and then. Sunday it was fun to play Dungeons and Dragons while Nathan spent the afternoon with my parents.

I've been getting frustrated with Nathan's new school. He's only there two days a week, but the office staff there seems completely incompetent. They can't process our credit card or tell us reliably how much to pay for tuition. They don't return phone calls or follow through on paperwork. Also, although I told them before that he is ready, apparently his teachers have not been working on potty training at all. Finally, they didn't really seem to care about Nathan having chicken pox. His old school sent a letter to all his classmates about it and required a doctors note before he could come back. The new place didn't seem to care one way or the other. Although it will be less expensive and closer to us, I'm having my doubts about the trustworthiness of the new place.

George funeral

I took the day off for Grandpa George's funeral today. It was a very nice day and I really could not be sad. It was wonderful seeing lots of family and old friends. The stories people told about him were delightful and I think he would have appreciated the day.

Thankfully, Nathan's pediatrician cleared him to return to school, so that was one less thing to worry about.
