Today was a busy day - feeding the ducks, walking on the beach, digging dirt, playing in the backyard, getting new books at the library, playing at the playground, watching a little league basketball game, watching bowling, playing shapes, eating ravioli for dinner, etc. Oh, Nathan used the potty for the first time this evening, mostly by accident, but it's a start.
Nathan had his 2 year-old check up today. We all got rather frustrated waiting over an hour before being seen by the doctor. Nathan is growing well. He measured 3 feet (85%) and weighed 35lbs (over95%) with a BMI of 19. We're going to switch him to non-fat milk and cut out juice. Otherwise everything was fine.
I was lucking to slip away to the break room and watch Obama's speech. It was moving, but I worry about him. I kept thinking, "Please nobody shoot him," and "Poor guy, he inherited a whole bunch of crap to clean up."

The week went by quickly. This weekend is flying by too. Today I spent the afternoon at book club with my coworkers. Tomorrow we host Nathan's family birthday party in the morning and then in the afternoon go to visit my grandfather, Nathan's namesake.

I have to say I am actually happy the holidays are over. I'm settling back in to my work week schedule. Maybe I'm a bit like a toddler in that I prefer routine to topsy-turvy schedules. Working for a day or two and then home for a day or two was weird. It is also incredibly draining to stay home with Nathan; I find my employment much easier.
Happy 2009 all.
Gary and I helped ring in the new year at a party with friends. We couldn't stay long since our babysitters, my parents, wanted to get to a party of their own. But we had a nice time.
Nathan is clearly approaching 2 years of age since his fits of anger are becoming more obnoxious and last longer. Tuesday he whined for close to 45 minutes about not being able to watch a bulldozer and today he threw a fit as we left the playground. They don't call them the terrible twos for nothing.
