Selina with a cone

Kitten update - They have begun frolicking through the whole house and our older cat, Moosh, seems to tolerate them. If the kittens get within about a foot or if they decide to attack his tail, he will hiss or growl.

However with all their rough play has come an injury. Gary noticed Monday night that Selina, the black one, had a very swollen eye and the third lid was stuck open. He took her to the vet and they couldn't find anything in her eye and thought she'd probably gotten scratched - I would guess by her sister. They gave her some shots to reduce the swelling and put a plastic cone around her neck so she couldn't rub it anymore. i have to say Selina sure looks stupid with it and she keeps walking into walls and furniture. I'll try to post a picture of her with it soon. And her now sister takes advantage of her lack of vision by pouncing on her and wrestling without warning. A the joy of sibling rivalry.

Iron Chef America

Lately I've been on a Food Network kick. I'm usually not much of a TV person, tending to spend alot of time on the computer, but the last couple weeks I'll plop down and enjoy almost any show on Food Network. It is weird because I don't even like to cook.

My favorite shows are those with Alton Brown. I used to get a kick out of the Japanese Iron Chef show and was so happy when I found the American version hosted by Mr. Brown. Check out these great online clips of him giving a tour of Kitchen Stadium.

Weekend

The kitties are doing a bit better. I took them to the vet and he said not to worry they just have a cold. Since they are still eating and drinking and playing, they'll be fine. They are still super cute, even their little sniffles.

The weekend went well. It was rather warm, but we do better than most living so near the beach. Saturday Gary and I went down to OC and hung out with Mike, Phaedra and baby Katherine. We got to eat at one of our most favorite restraurants, the Gypsy den. We even got about 3 extra meals to go to tide us over.

Sunday I went to a congregational meeting at our temple BCC and got ot vote on whether or not we should move to a new building. I like our current spot and don't think we need to move, although a face lift would be good. Unfortunately I was out voted and the temple will start looking for a new home. Ah well, at least I voted.

Kitties got a cold

Since bringing the kitties home on Monday, they have not stopped sneezing. While being kinda of cute with their little baby sniffles, my Mom worries about them. Today Lois, the tortoise shell, seemed really lethargic and wasn't eating, so my Mom insisted I call the vet. I'll be taking them both in this afternoon. I'm not too worried about her yet. If I got a yucky cold, I'd probably not feel like running around and just want to nap too. We'll see what the vet says.

Kittens

Gary beat me to the punch by announcing our two new kittens, Lois and Selina (Gary picked the names). There are more photos of them on his site. It took a while to get them home and they are still a bit fragile from their surgeries. They have not yet met our other cat, Moosh. Hopefully they'll get along.

Tooth filling

Saturday I was chewing some gum when it suddenly felt like I was grinding a little pebble. I felt around with my tongue and discovered new a space in my bottom molar. It seemed I had lost a filling. It didn't hurt or anything, and I kept eating like usual.

But I figured I should have a dentist look at it and I was able to get an appointment today at lunch. Of course, she said it should be sealed up a again. With my new dental insurance the copay was $30, so I said why not. Since it didn't hurt and I could not even feel her poking around inside the tooth, she decided I didn't need to numb it. The filling went fine, only took about 40 minutes. But now it hurts! - kind of a dull ache in the back of my tooth. Ah well.
