I started my 04 Triathlon season yesterday with the Los Angeles Champion Series half triathlon. It went pretty well. I haven't been able to train for a longer one what with the move, wedding plans, and my new job. Although I am certainly looking forward to the honeymoon, taking a month off training doesn't allow me to do any invovled races later this year. So hopefull I'll be able to do a full triathlon next season after a solid year of preparation. I also am planning one more half triathlon this season before the wedding.

I think I finished this race in about an hour and a half. Official results are still pending. It was a little on the warm side on Sunday. The race was alot less organized and professionally managed than other events I've been to. My dad came along to support me and took some nice photos. It was great to have him there.

I'm so excited. Gary will be moving in with me - again. I feel very fortunate that he has chosen to keep following me around. I do feel bad for him though, not only did he have to pack up all our stuff and organize the movers, but we'll have to stay at my parent's house for a few days until our stuff arrives. Hopefully, by the end of the month we'll be settled in. I'm looking forward to it.
Sunday, April 19th will be a relatively new Jewish Holiday. Actually it is not much of a holiday. It is often known simply as Yom HaShoah; "shoah," Hebrew for destruction, is another name for the Holocaust. This day commemorates the six million Jews who died during the Holocaust. At the same time, it marks the anniversary of the heroic Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943. In Israel, a morning siren sounds, stopping all activity; people stand in honor of those who died.
This weekend I got to see two good works of theater. Saturday I went to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I thought is was well done and brought up interesting issues about the value of memory, the fundamentals of attraction, eb and flow of romance, and the predatory nature of some men. All the actors in the film did a fabulous job, but the real star is the unique story and fresh writing.
I also saw The Matchmaker at A Noise Within. Little did I know it before I saw the play, but this what the musical Hello Dolly is based on. It is a cute romantic farse and, as always, skillfully performed by this troupe.

Yesterday I signed a lease on a 2 bedroom apartment in Silverlake. The place is in a nice area and the price is affordable. It is about time. I'm so ready to live with Gary again. We'll probably move in a couple weeks. Ah, but moving is so expensive. I'll be glad when we can finally buy a house somewhere and stay put.
Also, yesterday Gary and I went to a fabulous exhibit at the Fashion Institue of Design and Merchandising. It was a collection of costumes from various movies including: Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, League of Extrodinairy Gentlemen, Seabiscuit, Cold Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Matrix Revolutions, X2 - X men united, Daredevil, Charlie's Angels, Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat, Legally Blond 2, Last Samurai, Big Fish, Master and Comander, Lost in Translation, and Pirates of the Caribbean. For someone who is a big fan of some of those movies, it was very, VERY cool. I think the exhibit is closing soon, but check out the virtual tour of the exhibit. It is also cool.
